Capital Group Names Head Of Financial Intermediaries

has appointed Angela Jin as head of financial intermediaries, Hong Kong, to boost its presence in the region. Based in Hong Kong, Jin will oversee the local financial intermediary sales team, drive its distribution strategy and strengthen relationships with Capital Group’s financial intermediary clients, the firm said in a statement. In this newly-created role, she will report to Toby Chan, head of client group, Hong Kong & Greater China. Jin has experience in banking and finance, having worked with asset managers, private banks and institutional clients throughout her career. She previously served as head of private banking, Hong Kong, at PIMCO, where she spent eight years building the firm's wealth management business in North Asia. Prior to that, she led MSCI’s ESG business with institutional clients for the Asia ex-Japan region, the firm continued. Toby Chan, head of client group, Hong Kong & Greater China, said: “As one of the world’s largest active managers, we have significantly expanded our regional footprint through introducing Capital Group funds on new platforms and entering distributorships with leading global and local banks.” Jin added: “With its longstanding legacy, Capital Group’s active, multiple-manager investment approach has served investors worldwide for over 90 years. I am excited to join the growing team in Hong Kong to deliver better access to a global suite of investment offerings to more investors, catering to their needs in the region and beyond.” Capital Group has had operations in Hong Kong for 40 years. The firm’s distribution strategy in Asia involves partnering with financial intermediaries and institutions. In the first half of 2023, Capital Group said it had entered distributorships with UBS Global Wealth Management to bring its multi-sector fixed income strategy to investors in Asia. It also joined up with HSBC China to launch two offshore funds for Mainland Chinese investors and with the Bank of China (Hong Kong) to offer Capital Group American Balanced Fund (LUX) to investors in Hong Kong, amongst others. Capital Group manages multi asset, equity and fixed income investment strategies for different types of investors, managing more than $2.3 trillion in long-term assets for investors around the world.
